Learning to row
The Glenorchy Rowing Club runs occasional learn to row classes for adults from all over Hobart who want to see if rowing is for them.
Rowers get a great aerobic workout and enjoy the camaraderie of being part of a team while enjoying the Derwent River in a unique way. That's got to be better than being stuck inside a gym!
You do not need to be fit to learn to row, but you must be able to undertake light intensity aerobic exercise and have a reasonable level of flexibility and strength. You must be able to swim 50 metres in rowing gear, or wear a life vest.
Five sessions is normally enough for learners to be confident enough to row with a crew.
If you complete the course and want to become a club member, the course cost includes membership for the rest of the season.
